Comms policy

I have a way of dealing with email and other comms, that might as well be public. Here it is.

I don't look at my email inbox until I'm in a position to do something about the contents. This is because if I skim through my email without dealing with it then I get stressed out, because while I've worked out what I need to do, I haven't actually done it and being aware of that is really distracting for me. I like to use mornings and evenings to do stuff in solid chunks where possible, so practically speaking I check my email in the afternoon. However, when I do check it, I deal with everything in a big chunk and don't like leaving stuff unreplied-to.

I check Facebook a few times a day but not much more than that; I use it mostly to collaborate or seek opinions but I have a strong preference for email where possible. Twitter I check even less regularly, but I tend to use it to broadcast stuff of general interest.

If you want to contact me about something urgent, the best way to do that is through text message or by ringing me, but I prefer texts. I'm also pretty amicable to scheduling time to meet as an alternative to phone calls.
